A lot of clipping advice is passed around without proof. These are the myths we hear most, and what the evidence and the apps themselves say.

Hashtags and the For You page

  • Hashtags make clips go viralApps understand the video itself: the picture, the sound, the words on screen and in the caption. A couple of accurate hashtags can help them file your clip. A wall of them does nothing.
  • #fyp gets you on the For You pageEvery public clip is eligible for the For You page. The tag doesn't change that.
  • Trending hashtags bring free viewsThey only help if your clip fits what people searching that tag want. Off-topic tags bring the wrong viewers, who swipe away.

Timing and frequency

  • There's a perfect time to postTiming matters far less than the clip. Post when your audience is awake, then stay consistent.
  • More posts always means more viewsVolume helps only while quality holds. Ten rushed clips teach the app your page is skippable.
  • Delete flops and post them againReposting the same file can look like a duplicate. Make a new edit with a new hook instead.

Followers, length and sounds

  • You need followers to get viewsFor You feeds are built on interests, not followers. A brand-new account still gets a test audience.
  • Longer clips always do betterOnly if people stay. Watch percentage matters more than length.
  • A trending sound guarantees reachIt helps people find you, but the clip still has to hold them. On Seeded, use the campaign's sound either way.

Shadowbans and shortcuts

  • Every bad week is a shadowbanMost drops come from the content or the audience. Real restrictions usually show up in your account status or as a notice.
  • Bought views give a clip a pushFake viewers don't watch, so retention collapses and the clip stalls. It's also checked, and on Seeded it gets the clip rejected.
  • Engagement groups help you growComments from the same circle of people don't look like real interest, and they don't bring new viewers.

Before you blame a ban, check your account status and where viewers drop off.

TipWhen you hear a new trick, test it on a few clips and compare the numbers. Your own data beats anyone's rumor.
