The pro clipper's playbook

For clippers already posting: run more accounts, edit faster, write better hooks, read your stats and pick the campaigns that pay.

Once your clips are getting paid, growth comes from doing more of what works with less effort. This is how the top clippers do it.

Run more accounts

Each new page is another shot at every campaign. Don't copy one page five times: give each account its own lane, like football on one and anime on another, so each builds its own audience.

  • One footage library every account pulls from
  • A template per account, so each has its own look
  • One posting calendar for all of them
  • One weekly review across every page

Running many accounts by hand doesn't scale. Tools like Doublespeed set up and post across lots of accounts from one place.

TipConnect every account you post from, make every clip your own edit, and keep views real. Some campaigns cap clips per clipper, so read the brief.

Edit in batches

Do the same step across many clips at once and you'll go two to three times faster.

  1. 1CollectPull 15 to 20 moments into one folder before you open the editor.
  2. 2Rough cutTrim every clip to its best seconds. No captions yet.
  3. 3TemplateApply your saved caption style, font and effects to all of them.
  4. 4PolishFix timing to the beat, then export everything at 1080p.

Write better hooks

Keep a list of hooks that work and rotate through them. Track which one each clip used: after 20 clips you'll know your best three.

  • Start on the peakThe best moment is visual. Show it first, explain after.
  • "Wait for it"The payoff is at the end and worth it.
  • A question on screenThe clip answers something people wonder about.
  • The reaction firstSomeone's face says more than the moment.
  • Before and afterThere's a clear change or transformation.
  • Mid-sentenceThe quote is strong enough to drop into cold.
  • CountdownYou're showing a top three or top five.
  • "POV"The viewer can put themselves in the moment.

Steal formats, not clips: see what's trending, then make it your own.

Read your stats

  • Watched full videoThe single best sign a clip is working.
  • Average watch timeWhere people drop off, so you know what to cut.
  • Shares and savesPeople liked it enough to keep it or send it on.
  • RewatchesA clip that loops well keeps getting shown.

Reading the retention graph

  • A steep drop in the first second: the hook failed
  • A dip in the middle: a slow section, cut it next time
  • A flat line to the end: people stayed, make more like it
  • A bump: people rewound, so that moment is your next hook

Pick campaigns that pay

  • Rate per 1K viewsThe higher it is, the more each view is worth.
  • Budget leftA nearly spent budget may close before your clip peaks.
  • Fit with your laneA sound that suits your footage beats a higher rate that doesn't.

TipGo early. New campaigns have the most budget and the fewest clips.

Find better footage

  • Long podcasts and interviews in your lane
  • Match highlights and press conferences
  • Trailers and scenes the campaign gives you
  • Comments on big pages, which say what people want to see

AI tools scan a long video and pull out the strongest moments. Use them to find candidates, then cut the best ones yourself.

Build pages that last

Write a one-line identity for each page: category, style and promise, like "The funniest moments from football podcasts, fast." Run a few content buckets (emotional moments, surprises, hot takes) and double down on the ones that win.

A clean profile picture and cover style make a page look worth following.

Don't optimize for posting. Optimize for making people want the next video.
